WeForest : Plant a tree and empower women entrepreneurs
Global warming and poverty are the biggest challenges that humanity is facing. The WeForest NGO suggests a very simple solution to help these two problems: planting trees.
WeForest plants trees in the Khasi Mountains, a region in northeastern India. This region is known to be the wettest in the world and to possess a remarkable biodiversity with some endemic species. Unfortunately, this region has been undermined by deforestation. WeForest has the ambition to plant 500'000 trees per year on this project to protect this area.
The reforestation project creates jobs for local women in tree-nurseries. Thanks to this income, local children can go to school.
